Workshop description

The 'Art of Running' workshops are based on the proven principles of the Alexander Technique, which encourage good use of the body and greater awareness of the way it functions.  These practical workshops - bring running shoes, please - are geared for all levels (absolute beginners to seasoned marathoners).  They teach participants how the Alexander Technique can facilitate speed and ease while reducing tension and injuries.  The workshop will give you real insight into the sport and how you can transform your training and performance.

What you'll learn

"Your new-found awareness allows you to discover the movements of your body that are predisposing you to injury."
                       - Health & Fitness, March 2001

You will learn to:

  • Identify & change harmful habits that keep you from running at your full potential
  • Release tension and stiffness
  • Increase your running performance without strain and pain
  • Run without injury
  • Overcome self-imposed limitations

"...what I actually feel is a great sense of joy.  I've been running for 18 years but it has never felt this easy and, well, bouncy."
                       - The Guardian, November 2007
